Penlee ILB launched at 12:45 to assist two persons in an inflatable dinghy in difficulties off Long Rock, the two persons were in fancy dress one as Father Christmas and the other as a Penguin had attempted to paddle from Marazion for a charity, The ILB crew transferred them and the dinghy to the Lifeboat and took them to Newlyn Harbour.

Penlee ILB launched at 10:30 this morning to assist a 25ft motor vessel that had suffered engine failure with 3 persons onboard near Mousehole Island, Penlee ILB towed the vessel to Newlyn Harbour.

Two volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews faced difficult conditions last night (Thursday 12 December) as they worked to bring home a 20 metre fishing boat that had broken down 33 miles due south of Lizard Point.The Joy of Ladram had suffered gear box failure and was at the mercy of the elements. She was initially assisted by The Lizard RNLI lifeboat team who then passed the tow on to the Penlee crew who took her in to Newlyn.The first RNLI team to launch were the volunteers from The Lizard who responded to their pagers at 4.15pm yesterday afternoon. By 5.45pm they were on scene onboard the Tamar class all-weather lifeboat Rose and took the vessel, a Newlyn based gill netter, in tow. Conditions were demanding with a southerly wind of force six to seven and a big, lumpy sea.The team from Penlee lifeboat station, onboard the Severn class all-weather lifeboat Ivan Ellen then launched at 9pm, meeting up with The Lizard lifeboat just after 10pm four miles south west of Lizard Point. The tow was transferred and the Penlee team headed back to Newlyn, towing the fishing vessel, arriving at 1am this morning.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 13:58, a member of the public rang Falmouth Coastguard to report a jet-ski in difficulties to the west of St Michaels Mount, the Lifeboat searched the area and the local Coastguard Cliff Rescue team searched from the shore but nothing was found, the ILB returned to station at 14:40.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at midnight lastnight to assist a 50ft fishing vessel with 6 crew onboard that had broken down east of the Scilly Isles, St Marys Lifeboat launched around 10pm and was towing the vessel towards Newlyn, at 1am Penlee Lifeboat took over the tow 2 miles south of the Wolf Rock and arrived safely in Newlyn at 4 am.

Penlee ILB launched at 15:48 to assist a 17ft angling vessel with one person onboard 2 miles south of Porthleven that had engine failure, the ILB arrived on scene at 16:09  towed the vessel back to Porthleven harbour and arrived back at Newlyn at 17:10.

Both Penlee Lifeboats launched at 10pm last night to conduct a search between Wherry Town and Penlee Point for possibly a missing person after angling equipment was found on Newlyn's North Pier, Penzance Cliff Rescue team and the Police searched around the area, thankfully the angler was found safe and well, at 10:40 all units were stood down.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 04:18 to assist a 10m trawler that fouled its propellor with a piece of floating trawl net 22 miles SSE off Newlyn with 2 persons onboard, the Lifeboat was on scene in one hour, passed over a rope and started to tow the vessel towards Newlyn Harbour, both boats arrived safely at 08:45.

Weather, light southerly wind calm sea 1m swell.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat self launched at 12:05 to assist a 27ft yacht that had broken down south of Lariggan rocks in a fresh SE onshore wind, the skipper was heard calling for help, his calls were heard by a local angler who then alerted the Lifeboat crew, once on scene a lifeboat crewman was transferred to the yacht, he then fastened a rope and the ILB towed the yacht to Newlyn Harbour.

Weather SE 5 moderate sea 2m swell.

At 16:49 Penlee Lifeboat crew received a launch request from Falmouth Coastguard, a swimmer in difficulties at Perranuthnoe Beach due to rough sea conditions, 16:54 Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched but was stood on route as the swimmer had made it safely ashore, at 17:00 the ILB launched again to reports of another swimmer that had gone missing also at Perranuthnoe Beach, Penlee ALB also prepared to launch, 17:05 Penzance Cliff Rescue team were on scene at Perranuthnoe beach and notified all units that the missing swimmer had been located, an ambulance was requested as the swimmer had suffered cuts and bruises and sea water inhaleation, Penlee ILB returned to station at 17:20.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat ( Paul Alexander ) launched at 19:40 after Falmouth Coastguard received reports of a person in the sea and in need of assistance near Porthleven Harbour, thankfully the person was located by the Police safe and well before the lifeboat had arrived on scene, the lifeboat returned to station arriving at 20:10.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 17:20 in response to a mayday call from a local 10m Trawler that was taking in water 3 miles south of Tater-Dhu Lighthouse with 2 persons aboard, the Lifeboat arrived on scene in 15 minutes and put 2 crew aboard with the salvage pump and started to pump the flooded fish room, once the fish room was dry the lifeboat escorted the trawler to Newlyn while the two crew stayed on-board the trawler using the salvage pump to keep the fish room dry, both boats arriving at 19:10.

Penlee ILB launched 17:25, Falmouth C/G received 999 call reporting 2 persons in a dinghy requiring assistance at Loe Bar, on route Penlee ILB diverted to Wherrytown rocks after reports of 6 persons cut off by the tide, after a quick look the ILB confirmed no one on the rocks and continued to Loe Bar, within 5 minutes the ILB was stood down as the dinghy had managed to get back ashore, ILB arrived back in Newlyn at 17:50.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched 20:15, 2 persons in 8ft dinghy in need of assistance between Marazion and St Michaels Mount, ILB arrived on scene to find the 2 persons suffering from the affects of alcohol use and very cold, the ILB crew transferred the casualties the ILB and headed to towards Penzance Harbour to be met by paramedics, one person was taken to hospital! the ILB then returned to the dinghy and towed it back to Penzance harbour before heading back to Newlyn.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 20:50 to search for a possible broken down vessel seen by a member of the Public between St Michaels Mount and Cudden Point, using radar, night vision camera and search lights the Lifeboat found the unlit vessel at anchor 1/4 of a mile NE of the Mount, due to the shallow depth the yboat was launched, the vessel had broken down with 4 persons and a dog onboard, with no vhf the vessel was unable to raise the alarm !! the yboat towed the vessel to the ALB which then towed it to Penzance Harbour, Penlee Lifeboat returned to Newlyn at 22:40.

Penlee Lifeboats had not long arrived in Mousehole Harbour this afternoon for the Lifeboat day when Falmouth Coastguard tasked the ALB to search the bay to look for a vessel that had activated its Epirb, The ALB using the DF found that the Epirb signal was coming from Newlyn Harbour, the crew inspected several vessels in Newlyn but couldn't find the culprit then all of a sudden the Epirb stopped transmitting, an Epirb is a device that sends out a distress signal usually when a vessel has sunk so its very important that the vessel is located just to make sure all is ok.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 19:45 to assist the Lizard Lifeboat that was towing a 25m Scalloper towards Newlyn, the Scallop trawler suffered an engine room fire 2 miles south of the Lizard, Penlee Lifeboat took the tow off the Lizard Lifeboat and towed the scalloper to a position to anchor south of Gear Pole, the scalloper was unable to lift its derricks due to the fire so couldn't be towed into the harbour.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 1700, a 10 year old girl suffered a seizure in the sea near Mousehole Harbour, luckily some local children and a fisherman recovered her and got her out of the sea, the Lifeboat crew arrived on scene in a few minutes and assisted the Coastguards and Paramedics, once stable the girl was carried on to the quay and airlifted to hospital by Rescue 193 helicopter, a great effort to save this girls life by all involved !, on the way back to Newlyn the ILB diverted to a yacht with engine failure in the bay, the ILB towed the yacht to Newlyn.

Penlee ILB launched at 16:44 today to rescue two persons cut off by the tide in a small cove 1/2 a mile north of Porthleven, the ILB arrived on scene and veered down between the rocks close enough to the shore so the casualties could walk out to the ILB, the casualties were then taken to Porthleven Harbour, the casualties were cold and a little embarrased but very thankfull !!  Penlee ILB returned to Newlyn at 18:00.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat Paul Alexander launched at 19:26 to assist a jetski with two persons onboard that had broken down east of Penzance Harbour, one person was in the sea swimming trying to tow the jetski back to Penzance but due to the strong wind was finding it difficult, Penlee ILB arrived on scene, pulled the two persons onboard the LIfeboat and headed towards Penzance Harbour with the Jetski in tow, they then dropped them off alongside the pontoon before heading back to Newlyn arriving at 19:50.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 18:36 this evening to go to the assistance of a 20ft speed boat that had broken down off Loe Barr (Porthleven) with 6 persons onboard, at 19:00 as the Lifeboat passed Rinsey Head Falmouth Coastguard informed the crew that a fishing vessel had starting towing the speed boat towards Porthleven, the Lifeboat stood down and returned to Newlyn, arriving at 19:25.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 21:30 last night to a 30ft yacht that had dragged its anchor and went aground off Penzance with 3 crew onboard, the ILB managed to get a rope to the yacht and kept it head to wind for an hour before the yacht refloated, the yacht had lost all power and was unable to start its engine so the ILB  towed it to Newlyn Harbour and was berthed alongside the pontoon, the ILB was then refueled, washed down and ready for service at midnight.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 14:35 to assist a small 14ft fishing boat that had broken down and was unsure of its position with 2 persons onboard, the Lifeboat crew located the vessel 3 miles west of Praa Sands, the vessel no safety equipment and also lost its anchor, Penlee ILB towed the vessel back to Penzance Harbour.
