Penlee Lifeboat and the Penlee ILB where off St Michaels Mount waiting to pick 6 Fireman off the Mount after the firework display, at 21:55 both Boats were diverted by Falmouth Coastguard to start a search for an overdue yacht with 1 person on board that left Mousehole in the afternoon, a worried neighbour alerted the Coastguards, Rescue 193 Helicopter and the local Coastguard cliff Rescue Team were also tasked, at 22:50 Penlee Lifeboat using radar, powerful searchlights and a night vision camera located the yacht in Mounts Bay, once alongside it was established that the yacht suffered sail damage and was struggling to make headway, the yacht had no vhf or any means of contact, the ILB arrived on scene and towed the yacht back to Mousehole, both Lifeboats arrived back at station at 23:30.

Weather   West 5 squally showers, mod sea, 2m swell.

Penlee ILB launched at 21:43 to assist the same person that was rescued a few days ago, this time the Kayaker attempting to paddle to Iceland had been on his Kayak for 24 hrs had only managed 2 miles was in danger of being run down by fishing vessels in the area.

The ILB arrived on scene with 2 policeman with the idea of bringing him back to Newlyn for his safety but he refused any help or advice so the ILB returned to station, the Next day he fell off the kayak but managed to swim ashore at St Loy, we was picked up by the Police.

Weather   South 3 slight sea, 1m swell.

Penlee Inshore and the Penlee Y-boat launched at 14:26 to assist a lone kayaker 1 mile South of Penzance Harbour, Penlee ILB was first on scene and realised that police involvement was reguired so the Y-boat launched and stood by the kayaker while the ILB returned to Newlyn to pick up a police officer, once back on scene the person on the kayak was put onboard the ILB and taken to Newlyn, the Y-boat recovered the kayak and followed the ILB to Newlyn harbour both boats arriving at 16:00, the person was taken to hospital but was released later that day.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 17:25 to assist an 18ft Yacht that was unable to sail due to the offshore wind and also suffered engine failure 1 mile west of St Michaels Mount, Penlee Lifeboat towed the yacht with one person on board to Penzance Harbour then returned to Newlyn arriving at 18:30.

Weather N 4 slight sea 1m swell.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 00:46 to assist a 10m yacht that was becalmed and had suffered engine failure 4 mile SSW of Tater-Dhu Light House with one person on board, Penlee Lifeboat arrived on scene at 01:10 and towed the yacht to Newlyn arriving at 02:45.

Weather NW 2 calm sea.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 23:34 to reports of a person in the water at Penzance Harbour , the ILB arrived on scene located the person who was under the influance of alcohol, one crewman jumped in the sea and grabbed the person, the other crew then hauled the casualty on board the lifeboat and returned the casualty to Penzance Albert pier, the casulaty was met by police and paramedics.

Weather N 2 calm sea.

Penlee Lifeboat Launched at 16:15 to assist a 10m fishing vessel that had suffered engine failure and was being towed towards Newlyn by the fisheries protection vessel St Pirran, The Lifeboat was called to take over the tow into Newlyn Harbour but the fishing vessel managed to gets its engine started and entered Newlyn under its own power, Penlee Lifeboat stood by and returned to Station at 17:00.

Penlee ILB launched at 14:39 to assist a person who had fallen and suffered a head injury on St Michaels Mount, the ILB dropped a crew man on the Mount, he assessed and treated the casualty while the ILB picked up a paramedic from Marazion, after further treatment the person was well enough to carry on with her trip to the Mount and the ILB returned to Newlyn arriving at 15:50.

While out cycling at 06:55 Coxswain Patch Harvey saw that the French yacht that declined assistance the night before was hard aground on Battery rocks, Patch alerted the coastguards and a few minutes later both Penlee Lifeboat were launched, The ILB tried first to tow the yacht off the rocks but couldn't move it so the ALB got in as close as possible so the ILB could run in the tow rope, once connected the ALB had no problem pulling the yacht off the rocks, the yacht was then tied alongside the ALB and towed into Newlyn Harbour, both lifeboats were back on station ready for service at 08:10.

Weather   light northerly breeze calm sea.

Returning to Newlyn from the previous service the ILB was tasked to a French yacht that had gone aground on Newlyn beach with 2 persons on board with an ebbing tide, the ILB offered assistance but the French crew declined, in hind-sight a bad mistake, the ILB returned to Newlyn at 18:45.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 10:34 to tow a 35ft french Trimaran into Newlyn Harbour, a Brixham Beam Trawler had been towing the yacht which lost its rudder half way between Newlyn and Brest yesterday evening with 2 persons onboard, Penlee Lifeboat took over the tow 3 miles south of Newlyn and berthed the yacht alongside at 11:45 before refuelling.

Weather West 3 slight sea 2m swell.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 18:58 to assist an 11m french yacht with 5 persons onboard that nearly went ashore due the poor weather Conditions close to Penzance south Pier, Penlee Lifeboat escorted the yacht to deeper water and eventually safely into Penzance Harbour.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 18:58 after reports of a windsurfer in difficulties off Long Rock beach due to the poor weather conditions, Penlee ILB after an unpleasant trip accross the bay found that the windsurfer had made it back safely back ashore, the ILB then stood by Penlee Lifeboat that was escorting a yacht into Penzance Harbour, Both Lifeboats returned to Newlyn at 8pm.

Weather SE 6-7 gusting 8 in the gusts, rough sea 2m swell.

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 09:24 to assist a 90 ft sailing vessel that suffered engine problems 1 mile south of St Michaels Mount with 13 people on board, Penlee Lifeboat arrived on scene at 09:40 connected the tow rope and headed back to Newlyn, the vessel was tied alongside outside the harbour then towed through the gaps and berthed alongside, Penlee Lifeboat returned to station at 10:40.

Weather  NNE 4-5 slight sea 1m swell

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 17:22 to reports of a speed boat with four people on board that had broken down close to the shore off Porthcurno, the vessel had on anchor ! a local fishing vessel spotted the speed boat in danger and towed it clear of the rocks then stood by until the lifeboat arrived on scene, Penlee Lifeboat took the four persons off the vessel onto the lifeboat then connected a tow rope and headed towards Penzance Harbour, at 19:00 the vessel and the four casualties were safely alongside in Penzance Harbour, the Lifeboat returned to Newlyn at 19:10.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 18:35 to assist a broken down rib with two persons on board 1 mile west of Porthleven, the ILB arrived on scene in twenty minutes and was about to rig a tow when a local vessel offered to tow the rib back to Porthleven , Penlee ILB informed the coastguard , escorted the vessels towards Porthleven before heading back to Newlyn arriving at 19:25.

Falmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Penlee Inshore Lifeboat at 11:59 to assist an injured fisherman who suffered a head injury onboard one of the local beam trawlers, the ILB arrived on scene ready to evacuate the casualty but the casualty was happy enough to climb up the ladder himself where he was treated by paramedics, the ILB returned to station.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 14:37 to rescue a person in difficulties in the water south of Gear Pole, the person had been in a small motor vessel that had broken down with two others, the person attempted to swim ashore, The ILB crew quickly located the person , pulled him out of the sea and imediatly requested medical assistance, they then headed towards Penzance harbour where the person was treated for hypothermia in an ambulance and taken to hospital.The ILB returned to station at 15:40.

Whilst attendeing a RNLI fundraising event Penlee ILB rescued a drunk swimmer who dived into the sea and attempted to swim to South Australia !!! The ILB crew pulled the swimmer out of the sea and dropped him back to the promenade.

Penlee ILB launched on service at 21:37 to search an area near Porthleven Harbour after several distress flares were seen, the ILB crew helped to locate the vessel that fired the flares but the vessel wasn't in any danger, the ILB returned to station at 22:51.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched on service at 13:42 to assist an 18ft fishing vessel that had broken down with one person onboard near Mousehole harbour, the vessel was close to the rocky shore with a fresh southerly on shore wind blowing so it needed to be a quick launch to prevent the vessel being blown onto the rocks, Penlee ILB launched in 4 minutes and was on scene within 10 minutes from the pager alert, the lifeboat crew secured a rope to the vessel and towed it safely into Newlyn Harbour arriving at 14:20.

Weather SE 5 mod sea, 1.5m swell.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched at 16:47 to help a dinghy with four persons on board in difficulties due to the strong wind west of St Michaels Mount, the ILB transferred the four young men onto the lifeboat and took them back to Marazion beach, the ILB returned to station at 17:20

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat was tasked by Falmouth Coastguard while on exercise to inspect a report of a body seen by a member of the public at 1pm just south of Mousehole Harbour, Penlee ILB searched the area and unfortunately found a body on the rocks, with the help of the police and Coastguard Cliff Rescue teams from Penzance the body transferred to the lifeboat and taken to Newlyn harbour.

Weather West 4 slight sea 1m swell.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched on service today at 17:54, a Penlee crew member spotted a person on a jet-ski waving for help off Long Rock beach in poor sea conditions and rang 999 for assistance, Falmouth Coastguard paged the Lifeboat and the Penzance Cliff Rescue team immediately, Penlee ILB arrived on scene at 17:58 to find three persons in the surf quite close to the shore, the ILB kept a visual on the casualties until the Coastguard rescue teams arrived, once on scene the Coastguards helped the casualties to get out of the sea, two of the casualties required medical attention, Penlee ILB informed Falmouth Coastguard and an ambulance was requested, Penlee ILB was released and returned to station at 18:22 the two casualties were still being treated at that time, hopefully all will be ok, well done all involved.

Weather SW 6-8 rough sea 2m swell, squalls and heavy rain.

Both Penlee Lifeboats launched on service at 17:44 this evening, Falmouth Coastguard received a call from a member of the public reporting three young girls in the sea and in difficulties in rough seas between the Promenade and Battery rocks, Penlee ILB arrived on scene first and located the girls and quickly got them aboard the Lifeboat, they were then taken to Penzance harbour where an ambulance was waiting, thankfully the girls are ok but very lucky, Penlee ALB, Rescue 193 helicopter and Penzance Coastguard CRT also on scene.

Weather SW 4 rough sea 2m swell,

Penlee Lifeboat launched at 01:40 to help search for a missing person who had been swept out to sea at Loe Bar (near Porthleven) while paddling with friends, Lizard Lifeboat and Navy 193 search and rescue helicopter were also tasked along with several Coastguard cliff Rescue teams, The Lifeboats searched as close to the shore as possible but due to the 5-6m swell and gale force onshore winds the Lifeboats were forced into deeper water, at 04:30 after an extensive search from all units the weather conditions deteriorated even more, Both Lifeboats were released, despite a poor trip back both Lifeboats arrived safely at their stations around 05:20, sadly the person missing wasn't found.

Weather, South 6-8 increasing 9 at times, 5m swell rough sea.
